The objective of this program is to enhance understanding of slope processes by examining variables controlling a specific type of mass wasting– slumps. To calculate the forces acting on a slope without the aid of a computer program is a tedious, graphical procedure. The ability to assess the influence of variables of slope processes (ie. slope angle, slope height, strength, etc.) on slope stability is strongly hindered by this tedium. This program permits rapid assessment of the effect of slope variables on slope stability as well as providing a graphics display of the analysis. This program should not be considered a tool for slope stability assessment for legal or land planning purposes–it is purely a teaching tool.
Landslide is used in Process Geomorphology, a course which is required of all students majoring in Geology and Environmental Science.
